New mirror
I have just completed setting up a mirror of the apache FTP distribution.
Here's the information:
URL: ftp://ftp.cise.ufl.edu/pub/mirrors/apache
Location: Gainesville, Florida, USA
Contact: mirror@cise.ufl.edu
Updates: nightly using rsync
Bandwidth: 100 Mbit
I have followed the recommended practices for an FTP mirror

I got that too. Although I was able to get through once.
In general, I'm not too hip on ftp mirrors. They tend to have low
connection limits and be much slower than http mirrors to respond. And
they also can't do the fancy autoindex stuff that we use on our http
mirrors. So I don't encourage them, and we never select them as
"preferred" mirrors, but if they work I add them to the list.
Joshua.

Sullivan Beck,
Ease of use is important to me and most everyone
ftp://ftp.cise.ufl.edu/pub/mirrors/apache
There is no need to password protect something that u want everyone to have
access to. Th eonly peice of advice i can give is that if you are going to
have an ftp mirror istead of the httpd mirror is that u allow anoymous
access. And on the login window that comes up when someone goes to the
mirror that they need to log in anonimusly instead of them wasting there
time trying to guess how to get in. If you were to follow what is recommened
http://www.apache.org/info/how-to-mirror.html. It is easy to set up and
much faster than ftp.
I followed the guidlines as stated and have had no problems at all.

Hmm, recommended practices for an FTP mirror? It is currently
protected with a password, so, well, it's pretty useless so far ;-)
