It is in my humble, personal, 1 euro opinion, that a product isn't
considered a beta thing
if the reason that it is in beta, is the lack of support of several
options.
But then again, who cares ? It doesn't make anybody afraid anymore,
since a verry-well-known product now has more then 15 miljoen running
copies on something they called "alpha". I see You.
If those options don't work on certain platforms - fine let it be so -
disable them.
we can't port anything you know, some features goes, some don't. You
can't create Cola with only Banana's.
Name it Apache-in-house or-something, Create a Binarie only distrubiotn,
which works from the moment it is installed, without the
rattle-bam-dang-new-users-scaring-documentation-or-questions.
Let us say.. let just serve files.. and nothing more. No Cgi's or
anything confusing Grandpa users don't understand.
Put some security in it.. some directory's want to be easely guarded, to
private users.
I think we then have a happy new generation of apache-in-house users.
The world is getting connected more and more today. Your Home is turning
into a informationWall as well as your company's webserver already was.
You Know, I scan my real world mail. And i want that to be accessable
from wherever i'm in the world. Safe, Trustfully.
"Split Nt and 95/98 versions"
"Create Light-In-House distribution for 98"
" - by removing all functions not able to work under '98"
" - Make it So easy, everybody can use it "
" - Mark it for a maximum of X connections/s "
But i'm thinking to simple, i know :o)

Hmm.. Yes and know, i see my linux box in my back front more as a
testplatform either indeed.
But i can't afford (and didn't put time in finding free) tools equals
as i have on my '98 box :o)
maybe i'm blablaba'ing to much instead of coding, but i see different
streams
*nix boxxes - running Proffessional web site's
NT Boxxes - trying to do the same as the unix box
9598 Boxxes - Servering the Hobby user, with a website

You , and nobody else has to, - Apache is a free product isn't it ?-, if
somebody is bogus enough to even think that the second processor is
working under that Os, And dials 900-apache-support , Then do the thing
you do a s support engineer, and makes the sales team happy, tell the
brave soul he needs a better operating system, pointing to line X and Y
in the Documentation for Apache-In-House
We'r generation-n, The generation of the Net.
And i want my 98 pc having Apache without Beta.
