[jira] Created: (UIMA-203) maven build for eclipse plugins is inconsistent - the runtime plugin may be missing the .jar packaging

maven build for eclipse plugins is inconsistent - the runtime plugin may be missing the .jar packaging
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: UIMA-203
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/UIMA-203
             Project: UIMA
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Build, Packaging and Test
    Affects Versions: 2.1
            Reporter: Marshall Schor
            Priority: Minor
             Fix For: 2.1

The mvn install build process for the eclipse plugins builds .zip files and .jar files for all plugins except the uimaj-ep-runtime, where it only builds the .zip. I'm not sure why both .zip and .jar files are being built. The new Eclipse packaging practice is to build just .jar files, I think. In any case, this should be consistent.

[jira] Resolved: (UIMA-203) maven build for eclipse plugins is inconsistent - the runtime plugin may be missing the .jar packaging

Adam Lally resolved UIMA-203.
-----------------------------

    Resolution: Invalid

The jar files you are referring to are not the full plugin packaging. They just contain the java code. The jar file is then included in the zip along with the manifest files and other resources. So that's why uimaj-ep-runtime has no jar file of its own (it has no java code of its own).

This is the same as its always been in UIMA, we've never used the jar packaging for Eclipse plugins. Not that I'm saying we shouldn't, just that I don't think we necessarily need this in 2.1.
