I agree - many of the Roller templates use the list of categories as a convenient navigation menu. However the order they are presented appears to be the order that they were created. This means that if you want to add a new category later it has to go at the end of the list where it may not logically fit.
I would suggest a "priority" attribute to the category rather like the bookmark facility.
