It could be that you are getting unexpected compile errors, and that is causing your build to fail.
Alternatively it could be because you are working with iPlanet.

It's really hard to tell, seeing as you gave us almost no information to work with.

Try posting the output from running Ant in verbose mode.
That would at least give us a hint.
