+1 patch looks good. I think #1 fix the TestDFSStartupVersions failure which due to creating different datanodeUuids in every iteration but shutdownDatanodes don't wipe it from DatanodeManager. I was trying to adding wipe nodes after shutdownDatanode() but patch here looks better.
