A preliminary patch stream has been applied from the Shibboleth project [1]. The library version has not been updated yet but the tentative assumption is this will be 1.8.0.
With outside testing (on BOTH old and new OpenSSL) there is a slim chance I'll consider releasing it before mid-2017. If the Shibboleth project is the only source of effort to test it, it will happen when we're ready to do so and not one nanosecond before then.
