Why is Nutch not finding my plugin?

Hello there.

I'm using Nutch 1.1 and followed the tutorial to write a plugin. I
added the plugin to plugin.includes in nutch-site.xml. The names and
etc. are all fine and I can see that the plugin gets loaded:

2010-07-26 11:27:17,038 INFO  plugin.PluginRepository -         Wolfram
Nutch Plugin (nutch-wolfram)

And I have this Index Filter defined:

<extension id="com.wolfram.nutch.index.IndexFilter"
             name="Wolfram Indexing Filter"
             point="org.apache.nutch.indexer.IndexingFilter">

<implementation id="WolframIndexFilter"
             class="com.wolfram.nutch.index.IndexFilter" />
</extension>

However, when I try to run indexing, I get a class not found error. The
plugin was added to the big list of plugins that get deployed called in
the main Nutch build.xml and it gets built alongside the other
plugins. If I edit the bin/nutch shell script and manually add the jar
file (at /usr/local/nutch/build/plugins/nutch-wolfram/nutch-wolfram.jar,
like every other plugin) to the classpath, it works correctly. How can
I get this to work without manually adding it to the classpath?

Did I miss something?

Thanks in advance,
Eddie
