No, I have not.  It looks like I am going to have to read the code to figure
out what the differences are between the parsers.  The javadocs are
inadequate and there is no useful documentation on this in the usage
document.

Unfortunately this list is also not as helpful as I had hoped.

Have you found a solution to your problem regarding the CLI parsers?

I was using OptionGroups, and only got them to work fine, when I use
basicparser.

I was trying to use more options, which differ depending on which
option group is selected.
