Function create_node with ex_security_groups and ex_subnet arguments returns error: 
Exception: InvalidParameterCombination: The parameter groupName cannot be used with the parameter subnet

In this(https://github.com/boto/boto/issues/1884) thread about boto recommeded using security_group_ids instead security_groups for subnets in VPC.
