[D] Is the Docker user and groups changes intended and permanent? (hop)
GitHub user steewel created a discussion: Is the Docker user and groups changes intended and permanent?
Hi guys, wanna to check it out if the docker user UID and GID changes from 2.16 to 2.17 were planned and if they were, if will keep changing on next versions.
2.16
```
5959367fd1ee:~$ id
uid=1000(hop) gid=1000(hop) groups=1000(hop)
```
2.17
```
b4a435e28550:~$ id
uid=501(hop) gid=501(hop) groups=501(hop)
```
I have another container that creates files using az-cli before calling a hop process to consume it and to avoid permissions errors when using the linux host and both containers some permissions was set using the UID 1000

The script used implicit user creation which would make it unpredictable, now the docker file contains UID and GID. We aligned them to use the same user as Hop Web docker image does. Dockerfile can be found [here](https://github.com/apache/hop/commit/0654007bd550db48f2decfe42bca19dcaf5790f0)

I fear there might not be a way around this without creating your own images.

@hansva , Is there a way to force the UID and GID 1000:1000 without making my own Docker image?
I'm looking to make it compatible with some preexisting jobs without messing around with permissions, when I tried adding --user=1000:1000 to the docker exec, it fails over some permissions creating the config files
