[jira] Created: (TUSCANY-688) WAR Maven Plugin for Tuscany

WAR Maven Plugin for Tuscany
----------------------------

                 Key: TUSCANY-688
                 URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-688
             Project: Tuscany
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: Java SCA Tools
    Affects Versions: Java-M2
            Reporter: Meeraj Kunnumpurath
            Priority: Minor
         Attachments: tuscany-war-plugin-src.jar

Hi,

This is the first cut for the Maven plugin for the Tuscany war plugin. The plugin is attached to the packaged phase and works on the WAR file produced by the Maven WAR plugin. It accepts the boot and extension libraries as configuration parameteres and adds them to the original WAR at relavant locations. Outstanding stuff,

<li>Verify the presence of the required context listeners in web XML and add them if not present.</li>
<li>Defaults handling, don't know what the defaults are :-)</li>

Here is a usage pattern,

<code>
<project>

    <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>
    <artifactId>MyWar</artifactId>
    <packaging>war</packaging>
    <groupId>MyCompany</groupId>
    <description>My War</description>
    <version>1.0</version>

    <build>
        <plugins>
            <plugin>
                <groupId>org.apache.tuscany</groupId>
                <artifactId>tuscany-war-plugin</artifactId>
                <extensions>true</extensions>
                <executions>
                    <execution>
                        <id>tuscany-war</id>
                        <goals>
                            <goal>tuscany-war</goal>
                        </goals>
                    </execution>
                </executions>
                <configuration>
                    <bootLibs>
                        <dependency>
                            <groupId>commons-io</groupId>
                            <artifactId>commons-io</artifactId>
                            <version>1.2</version>
                        </dependency>
                    </bootLibs>
                    <extensions>
                        <dependency>
                            <groupId>commons-collections</groupId>
                            <artifactId>commons-collections</artifactId>
                            <version>3.2</version>
                        </dependency>
                    </extensions>
                </configuration>
            </plugin>
        </plugins>
    </build>

</project>

Ah this is good timing. :-) I just got rid of the SDO and Axis
"dependencies" in the webapp projects so this should be a nice way to
have these dependencies assembled at deployment.

[jira] Commented: (TUSCANY-688) WAR Maven Plugin for Tuscany

Posted by "Jeremy Boynes (JIRA)" <tu...@ws.apache.org>.

Jeremy Boynes commented on TUSCANY-688:
---------------------------------------

The duplicate problem seems to occur if I run the build twice:
$ mvn -o clean
$ mvn -o package
# OK
$ mvn -o package
# Fails

[jira] Commented: (TUSCANY-688) WAR Maven Plugin for Tuscany

Posted by "Jeremy Boynes (JIRA)" <tu...@ws.apache.org>.
    [ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-688?page=comments#action_12433190 ]

Jeremy Boynes commented on TUSCANY-688:
---------------------------------------

Patches applied - thanks.

I did have a slight problem with the sample before applying the sample patch in that the archiver objected to a duplicate entry. It would perhaps be helpful if the plugin could detect duplicates and only add them once. This may prevent duplicates as well - e.g. api ends up in both WEB-INF/lib and in WEB-INF/tuscany/boot

[jira] Updated: (TUSCANY-688) WAR Maven Plugin for Tuscany

Posted by "Meeraj Kunnumpurath (JIRA)" <tu...@ws.apache.org>.
     [ http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-688?page=all ]

Meeraj Kunnumpurath updated TUSCANY-688:
----------------------------------------

    Attachment: tuscany-war-plugin-patch-20060907.txt

Fixed the following issues,

1. Duplicate zip entry exceptions with repeated builds
2. WEB-ING\lib entries are not duplicated into WEB-INF\tuscany\boot and WEB-INF\tuscany\extension directories

BTW, does the CL hiereacy follow the order web CL -> Tuscany boot CL -> Extension CLs? If yes, should the libs in boot not dupliacted in extension?

It accepts the boot and extension libraries as configuration parameteres and adds them to the original WAR at relavant locations. Outstanding stuff,
