[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-3753) Update CqlPreparedResult to
provide type information
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-3753?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13189848#comment-13189848 ]
Rick Shaw commented on CASSANDRA-3753:
--------------------------------------
This will be a very valuable feature for the clients. If it was in place it would greatly facilitate client side error checking and argument transformation.
_But_ I am skeptical that we can come up with a reliable method to determine type to be returned in the "prepare" phase of the client-server exchange. The barrier is (I think) that {{Term}} can occur on both the "left" and "right" side so it can for instance _name_ a column. So until the column name is actually resolved you can't determine its type.

> As discussed on CASSANDRA-3634, adding type information to a prepared statement would allow more client-side error checking.
