Cocoon Release

Carsten, All,

Do we have any showstoppers for the upcoming release? What's left for
the 2.0.1? End of January is not far away...

IMHO it could be better to remove build-*.xml from current cocoon root to
eliminate possible user confusion and frequent list questions on the topic
;-)
I've put a patch for this in Bugzilla, together with an expanded section in
xdocs for build usage.

Let's release more often!! Did you noticed the psychologic effect on
us when we announced inofficial the new release soon. I noticed ;-)

A formal +1 on releasing!

Yes, I noticed that. Now, actually to get the 2.0.1 release out, I don't
want
to change anything in the build system - it is far too complex right now. So
I
thought of addressing this issue after the release.
I think the many build files in the main directory will confuse people, so I
just moved them out of place. That's all.

Good idea!

Yes, you are right, it's a shame that noone reviewed that patch. So if
someone
has some time and space for it, please review it.

Thanks,
Carsten

Dear Carsten,
I've just seen that you have moved the build files in the tools directory.
I'm cool with that happening, and in fact I have submitted a patch the 26th
(http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=6047) that does this in a
slightly different way with additional fixes.
There is also a patch from MIYABE Tatsuhiko dated 12/27/01 02:06 that has
never been reviewed AFAIK.
I don't think he's happy that his efforts to help are not valued.
I hope not to bother you..., but more than sending patch queues to the list
I cannot do without annoying too much. ;-)
Please, let's check that all patches are applied or at least assigned to a
reviewer before releases.

Thank you :-)

Ken

The build-*.xml are broken after the move.

Hm, ok, now it works for me, too. If perhaps some of the yesterday changes
fixed the problem?

Anyway, this seems to solve the last remaining problem, right?

So...

Great work, Vadim! Many Thanks.
This shows again, how important XSP is this bug seems to exist for ages
and nobody noticed it... :-)

And you did not change any configuration? Fresh check-out from CVS runs?
Hm, this is strange.

Can we have reports from others, if it works for you?
If i'm the only one having problems, well, it's not a showstopper then.

It was not showstopping 2.0 release though... Nevertheless, it is fixed.
Please check.

Could not reproduce the problem. Tried Resin/Tomcat on 8080/80 - works
like a swiss clock for me :-|

Yes, I see currently two showstoppers:

1) If you change the cocoon.xconf in a running system, XSP is broken.
I reported this with a separate email yesterday - this is definitly
   a showstopper!

2) Lucene searching or better the index creation is not working for me.
Everything runs well, but the generated index is empty. Am I the only
   one experiencing this problem?
