spell check and language

Please help! I've downloaded 4.1.2 twice, just in case it was an error
first time: I cannot get the spell check to work nor find the dictionary
and/or Thesaurus. I'm using Windows 10, looking for writer's aids in
American English.

I love Open Office, I love the idea, and I like everything about it, if
only!
Thank you for your help.

Fwd: spell check and language

Posted by magdalena <zs...@cruzio.com>.
All the Extensions for English I download are old and probably not
working with 4.1.2 I'm sure it's supposed to be the default, but HOW to
activate that?
Please help.
Magdalena

You should start by renaming your OpenOffice user profile. If you are using Windows do this by:
Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.
