'welcome file' behavior
This idea would allow for slide to pick up on welcome files instead
of doing directory listings.
One could configure 'index' or 'index.html' etc as welcome files and
if present they would be forwarded to the browser on GET,
If edited, the PUT would have to map to the same of course.

Sorry no answer for you, but you are aware you can actually commit in Slide ?
So if you still work for thoughtworks and have those opensource evenings, maybe Slide could be a
nice evening filling subject :)
