Serializing a Point

What serializer should I be using for a java.awt.Point? It is not a Bean.
Is it a Parameter or a Type or what?
The BeanSerailizer converts all the x and y values to doubles, but when
deserialized, they all become zero.
Other serializers seem to throw various exceptions.
