[VOTE] Airflow Backport Providers 2021.3.17rc1
Hey all,
I have cut Airflow Backport Providers 2021.3.17rc1. This email is calling a
vote on the release,
which will last for 72 hours + 1 day to account for the weekend- which
means that it will end on Wed 17 Mar 23:59:59 CET 2021.
This release is an ad-hoc one that addresses the bug
https://github.com/apache/airflow/issues/14673 where the .whl version of
2020.10.29 packages contained more than the actual provider, but also it
contains the elasticsearch provider release that Kaxil started to vote on
few hours ago.
There are a few "super-low-risk" changes in some of the providers - such as
automated string formatting to f-strings, changing original sources to use
non-deprecated imports (those are automatically converted back during
refactoring of backport providers) and adding connection meta-data to class
definition.
Once this release is out, I will `yank` all the 2020.10.29 packages..
Consider this my (binding) +1.
The list of providers released is here:
* apache.cassandra
* apache.hdfs
* apache.kylin
* apache.livy
* apache.pig
* apache.sqoop
* celery
* cloudant
* datadog
* discord
* elasticsearch
* facebook
* ftp
* grpc
* imap
* jdbc
* jira
* mongo
* odbc
* opsgenie
* oracle
* pagerduty
* plexus
* postgres
* redis
* samba
* segment
* singularity
* vertica
* yandex
* zendesk
Airflow Backport Providers 2021.3.17rc1 are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/airflow/backport-providers/2021.3.17rc1/
*apache-airflow-backport-providers-2021.3.17rc1-source.tar.gz* is a source
release that comes
with INSTALL instructions.
*apache-airflow-backport-providers-<PROVIDER>-2021.3.17rc1-bin.tar.gz* are
the binary
Python "sdist" release.
The test procedure for PMCs who would like to test the RC candidates is
described in
https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-the-release-by-pmc-members
and for contributors:
https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/dev/README_RELEASE_BACKPORT_PROVIDER_PACKAGES.md#verify-by-contributors
Public keys are available at:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/airflow/KEYS
Please vote accordingly:
[ ] +1 approve
[ ] +0 no opinion
[ ] -1 disapprove with the reason
Only votes from PMC members are binding, but members of the community are
encouraged to test the release and vote with "(non-binding)".
Please note that the version number excludes the 'rcX' string, so it's now
simply 2021.3.17. This will allow us to rename the artifact without
modifying
the artifact checksums when we actually release.

Re: [VOTE] Airflow Backport Providers 2021.3.17rc1
Posted by Tomasz Urbaszek <tu...@apache.org>.
+1 binding
Checked licenses, checksums and signatures. I was able to install all
providers but odbc in apache/airflow:1.10.14 docker image. The odbc
backport failed on missing gcc - but imho this is not a blocker for
release as users can instal gcc in their images if necessary.
