Xalan 2.0.2 performance issue

We use the org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process class to transform an xml document
to html.  With xalan version 1.2.2 it completes in 15 seconds but in Xalan
2.0.2 it does not finish even after 30 minutes !!!

Any inputs on how to solve this problem ?
