[jira] [Created] (MARMOTTA-678) Further geospatial support

Timo Homburg created MARMOTTA-678:
-------------------------------------

             Summary: Further geospatial support
                 Key: MARMOTTA-678
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MARMOTTA-678
             Project: Marmotta
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: KiWi Triple Store
    Affects Versions: 3.4.0
            Reporter: Timo Homburg

Hello,

I am the developer behind postgis-jena and rdf4j-postgis, both projects to develop further geospatial query capabilities beyond GeoSPARQL also including raster data support for Apache Jena and rdf4j respectively.

I found that your project integrates very well with rdf4j and experimented a bit to include the rdf4j extension with your native queries to POSTGIS. (everything still work in progress)

Benefits would be: You could use a native Java implementation to process geospatial functions and for most queries could forward them to a POSTGIS backend if available (as you seem to already want to do with the GeoSPARQL extension)

Is this functionality of interest to your project?
