Agreed!
In general we need to generate some more buzz. log4j 2.0 will be also
a subject on the ApacheCon EU. Any other ideas are welcome.

Imo it's really important to send the Announcement. I've only recently seen a blog which claimed that log4j is dead ;)

Actually, the release was completed shortly after that email - except that I forgot to do the release announcement. At this point I'm not sure if it is worth it. I've fixed a number of bugs and am planning on making some updates to the documentation over the next few days and then go ahead with a release of alpha3.
