[jira] [Created] (INFRA-4354) Please unblock IP address from SVN

Please unblock IP address from SVN
----------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-4354
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-4354
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: CVS
         Environment: N/A
            Reporter: Florian Uunk
            Priority: Minor

I am currently doing research as grad student at the University of
Hawai'i on the relationship between source code metrics and effort.
For this, I am extracting data from Apache servers, and I am using the
SVN servers.

It appears that my IP addresses have been blocked from these servers?
I was wondering if it would be possible to get unblocked, for the sake
of the research. I am running quite a few queries, but never more than
1 per second. I am also willing to share the data that is being
extracted this way.

The IP addresses that appear to have been blocked are:

128.171.194.112
129.25.6.245

Could you take a look if these addresses indeed have been blocked? And
if so, would it be possible to unblock them? If the research is
succesful, I can also send the results to the Apache Foundation. I'll
also make sure to not strain the servers too much if that's an issue.

<danielsh> I'm willing to lift the ban, on the assumption that from now on you'll behave (and not try a different IP when the first one gets banned). If you need to run lots of queries we provide dump files you can use to create a local mirror.

Ok, thank you! Running a local mirror would actually be a great option for us. Do you have an estimate of the dump file sizes? We are interested in dumpfiles for the projects: Geronimo, Directory ApacheDS, Roller, PDFBox, Lucene - Java and Derby.
