[jira] [Commented] (UIMA-3391) Profile "build OSGi bundle for annotator" tries to run maven-dependencies-plugin in m2e

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/UIMA-3391?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13809034#comment-13809034 ]

Richard Eckart de Castilho commented on UIMA-3391:
--------------------------------------------------

This is the problem:

{noformat}
          <!-- copy any uima dependencies needed to osgi/lib
               beyond what is done for the common build.
               NOTE: can't just add dependencies, because
                 a) local projects override scope to "provided" and
                 b) this would result in the jars being copied for
                    the common build -->

          <plugin>
            <artifactId>maven-dependency-plugin</artifactId>
            <executions>
              <execution>
                <id>Copy uima dependencies to osgi/lib</id>
                <goals><goal>copy</goal></goals>
                <phase>process-resources</phase>
                <configuration>
                  <outputDirectory>${project.build.directory}/osgi/lib</outputDirectory>
                  <artifactItems>
                    <artifactItem>
                      <groupId>org.apache.uima</groupId>
                      <artifactId>uimaj-core</artifactId>
                      <version>${uimaDependencyVersion}</version>
                    </artifactItem>
                  </artifactItems>
                </configuration>
              </execution>
            </executions>
          </plugin>

It needs to be check if this is really necessary or if there is a better alternative (e.g. why does uimaj-core need to be bundled in an annotator at all? the annotator should probably instead require the uimaj-runtime bundle). If there is not better alternative, the "copy" target should at least be ignored in the m2e profile along.

> The profile "build OSGi bundle for annotator" tries to run maven-dependencies-plugin in m2e. This crops up when trying to build the add-ons modules, because they are marked for building OSGi bundles.
> I guess, the approach we use for the uimaj-runtime bundle should also work for the add-ons modules, probably not requiring manual copying of libraries anymore.
