[classlib] running the tests

Hello

to run the tests one need to put some files to classpath, for example:

===from RUNNING-TESTS.txt====
2) JUnit.jar - any modern version. http://www.junit.org

Put this on your classpath because
we self-host to test (i.e. use both the Harmony class library
and the external non-open source J9 VM that is available to us
   under an evaluation license

3) bcprov-jdk14-131.jar : from http://www.bouncycastle.org/

Put in classpath - we'll fix this problem too.
==========================

Given that we now download these files is there any reason having to put them
into CLASSPATH manually?

Thanks,
Mikhail

That's actually a really funny idea in this age of 'value-add' bundling...

"language compiler. Now, with IDE!"

I think it's even more remarkable that we don't even blink when
discussing 120MB downloads....

Well ... I thought that this is a common requirement to have junit.jar on
classpath - crypto test suite picks up junit.jar from classpath to run unit
tests on bootclasspath. As far as I included crypto test suite into common
test suite run then you will see that all crypto tests fail :-(

Thanks,
Stepan.

OK, I see

Is there any way to avoid requirement of having *two* copies of junit.jar
in separate directories?

Perhaps the JRE that is running Ant is picking up your CLASSPATH.

I never set CLASSPATH -- I've simply put junit.jar into my Ant lib and

Actually the tests pass when junit.jar is in CLASSPATH, so seems like
<junit...> task works well.

Do you mean that to run the tests I'll have to have two junit's:
one in ant/lib and another one in Harmony/depends?

That looks like the JUnit Ant task is missing -- you still need to put
JUnit into ant/lib etc. to use <junit ...>

and I'd encourage people to put the Eclipse compiler adapter in there
too so we can use that.

Tim

Not only the document.

Now build fails without e.g. junit in classpath:
