sourcecross.org - Subversion-SCC project

Hi all,

== Announcing sourcecross.org ===
Subversion - SCC API interface project

For a couple of months there has been a small group of developers
working on an SCC API interface to Subversion.

We have established a project home at http://www.sourcecross.org/ and a
Subversion repository. More information on the web site.

The SCC API is used by most major Windows development environments
including Microsoft Visual Studio (a fuller list is at
http://www.sourcecross.org/faq/index.php#whatides)

Unfortunately we are unable to establish this as an open-source project,
because the Microsoft SCC API is protected by a non-disclosure
agreement. This is one of the reasons we are not on tigris.org
alongside the likes of AnkhSVN and Subclipse. However this is a fully
community-owned project and is not controlled or funded by any
commercial interests.

We would like to consolidate all the efforts to produce an SCC provider
for Subversion, and produce the best provider there is. If you are able
to contribute, even in a small way, to this project, then please join
one of the mailing lists (instructions at
http://www.sourcecross.org/lists.php). We are especially interested if
you have signed the Microsoft NDA and can help with the SCC provider
development, but there are other things to do as well (eg documentation,
testing). Certainly signing the NDA is not a prerequisite for
involvement.

And although this has been said many times before, congratulations to
all the Subversion developers for getting 1.0 released!

Walter Nicholls

P.S. Apologies for the cross-posting to both dev and users. This is
primarily a user-space announcement but since we'll be working with
libsvn code and are looking for developers it seemed appropriate to dev
as well. (I won't do it again.)

This blog entry

sounds like the NDA is no longer required. I haven't had time to track
down the details, but the sourcecross.org team might be interested.

Eric.

I added the link, but with a note that sourcecross isn't an open
source project due to the NDA issue. (I think this will be important
to a lot of visitors to the links page, and all the other projects on
the page are open source afaik).

By the way, is the project's name "sourcecross.org" or "SourceCross"
or... ? Your mail only said "sourcecross.org", so I used that as the
project name.

Best,
-Karl
