[jira] Created: (INFRA-2548) Buildbot configurations for Avro

Buildbot configurations for Avro
--------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-2548
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2548
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Buildbot
            Reporter: Bruce Mitchener
            Priority: Minor

The Avro project would like some buildbots configured. For now, we would like the C and Python codebases to be handled. In the future, we are likely to want to add our Java and Ruby codebases as well as some form of interop testing between the implementations.

For C, we would like a builder on each unix platform. In the future, we will want Windows as well, but we do not yet build there. Our builds depend on CMake, but should support 2.4, 2.6 or 2.8.

For Python, we'd like one for Python 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6 if possible (if already installed). If not, can we get an idea of which Python versions are on which hosts?

In the hopes that it would be useful and save some time, I have a buildbot config file with what should be working configurations for build steps, change sources and so on.

I am not a committer, but I am working with Massie on this and Cutting is aware of it.

If possible, IRC notifications to #avro on irc.freenode.net would be good as well. We do not currently have a bot of any sort.

Thanks Bruce,

I've adapted the config, and you now have it building on Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64, Python 2.6.4, cmake 2.6-patch4, java jdk 1.6.

Theres an avro-bot in your irc channel and notifications go to your dev list.
