== Pointers to information on establishing a Windows Service ==
The following links supply information about running programs as a Windows Service. Though I've seen requests for this information on several occasions I have yet to see a follow-up post that lists the steps involved in setting Derby as a Service using any of the tools referred to. I am hoping that someone with experience using these or other tools will post the steps they used and any 'gotchas' they discovered. I am not a Windows Admin type so cannot speak from experience. Based on emails read there are at least three programs that help establish a program as a Windows Service: {{{srvany.exe}}}, {{{Java *Service* Launcher (JSL)}}} or {{{Java *Service* Wrapper by Tanuki Software}}} - there are probably others.

- The email link (nabble.com) leads to the response to a request for information on setting Derby up to run as a Service under the Windows Operating system. The thread lists three possible programs that can help in setting up the service. The links form the message are included below for convenience. My thanks to those who contributed to this email thread.
