== Background ==

It is a while since the last commons logging release and during that time several small but important fixes have been made. The current code in CVS HEAD will also support the upcoming [http://logging.apache.org/log4j Log4J] release. (Thanks Ceki :) )

The time seems right to cut another commons logging release.
