I did work along these lines, but got unexpected results, as
follows. From the archive, I saw that the link to my original
post is:

    http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=users&msgNo=16078

So I made a request to (note the number 16078):

  <us...@subversion.tigris.org>

expecting to have the thread returned. But all I got (other
than some generic introductory material pertaining to
commands I could use and the statement that the email
contained the thread 16078), was the following email
which has nothing to do with the thread I was requesting:

   From: Danny Thomas <d....@its.uq.edu.au>
   Date: Sun, 15 Aug 2004 17:31:47 +1000
Subject: 1.1.0-rc2 configure problem wrt berkeleydb on freebsd

Besides this incorrect message number issue, two other
issues I have had in regard to the archives are:

1) When I clicked "show thread" on a message whose thread
had only two messages, the resulting display of links to
the list of messages in the thread showed 3 items rather
   than just 2.

2) When I click on a link to a message, I sometimes got
   this Fatal Error message:

   Servlet error
   Fatal error
   Message not available: <some digits>
The version and build number 2.6.0.215.6

Weird.

I have to admit that I never used the "thread" command, but only
the "users-get" command, which worked as expected in my case (but that
was on the RapidSVN list).

This sounds like some kind of problem / defect.

I think the best thing you can do is to contact
users-owner@subversion.tigris.org, as mentioned in the WELCOME
message.
