You can deploy all types of j2ee packages using the geronimo-maven-plugin.   You can also start and stop a remote server, but waiting for it to start completely is a bit iffy.

Description:
At current time it is not possible to deploy an ejb, war, or rar while the server is started.  Due to the read-only nature of Geronimo config-stores, deployment may only happen when the server is stopped.
