I've reduced the number of times the artifacts-panel was populated (which already improves a little bit). Aside that, I've introduced two new configuration parameters: 'artifacts.cache.rate' and 'artifacts.page.length' that allows one to tweak how aggressively Vaadin caches rows in the artifacts table.
