and selectors

Hi,

I'm trying to do an incremental backup of some source codes using the
<tar> task. Unfortunately, <tarfileset> does not support the use of
selectors (like <date>) and <tar> does not accept normal <fileset>s.
Does anyone have a tip how to get around this? 
I'm using ant 1.5beta2
