   Not sure, but for me similar to pushing Maven Snapshots to repository.apache.org. It also states there:
   
   > ... and may use it to distribute snapshots containing unreleased materials directly to consenting members of a project development community.
   
   But in fact the SNAPSHOT Maven repo is not protected in any ways.
