3.0 API freeze in a week time

Folks,

I suggest HttpClient 3.0 API be formally frozen within a week or two.
The feedback we have had so far can hardly bee seen as comprehensive.
However, I see very little sense in waiting any further.

I and Mike approached several open-source projects (both Apache and
non-Apache) that are presently dependent on HttpClient 2.0 soliciting
feedback on the new API and inquiring about plans (or lack thereof) to
migrate to HttpClient 3.0. Sadly enough we have not received a single
response and I doubt any feedback is forthcoming. Hopefully HttpClient
has been doing a decent job for our peer open-source developers.

However, there's enough people who have been using 3.0 for some time
already. We should concentrate on supporting the new users rather than
trying to get the existing projects to migrate. I think it is time we
moved on. Any criticism of 3.0 API can be addressed in releases 3.1 and
4.0.

Evil Comrade Oleg

Hey Oleg and HttpClient folks,

The (recently opensourced) Laszlo Presentation Server still uses the 2.0
api.

Is there a doc that points to the major
changes/improvements/deprecations/removals in 3.0? That would be helpful.

Thanks,
Eric

ps. How do I change the url for the Laszlo Presentation Server in the
'applications' page on the website to http://www.openlaszlo.org ?

Re: 3.0 API freeze in a week time

I agree. The only bugs left open are for documentation and testing.
Let's plan to call for a beta 1 release at the end of next week. Once
the beta code is out the door, the API can be considered frozen.

We should probably be flexible enough for some minor API changes
following beta 1, but our focus should be to push changes into 3.1 or 4.0.
