[jira] [Created] (LEGAL-548) Question about modifying the Avro c++ project that uses Apache V2 License

John Galt created LEGAL-548:
-------------------------------

Summary: Question about modifying the Avro c++ project that uses Apache V2 License
                 Key: LEGAL-548
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-548
             Project: Legal Discuss
          Issue Type: Question
          Components: Policy Question
            Reporter: John Galt

Hello,

I need to modify the avro project (It uses that Apache V2 License) for use in my closed source, proprietary product.  Can you please help me with these questions:

If I modify avro, do I need to publicly make available the full avro source code including my modifications?

Can I redistribute the binary Avro lib along with my product without having to release the source code of my avro modifications?  Can someone ask for unmodified avro sources?

In addition to attributing/acknowledging the use of Avro and displaying the Apache V2 license, the license says to list modifications?  Where and how should I list the modifications (since I don't want to distribute the source form of my changes)?

Thanks for all your help with these questions.
