Gavin closed INFRA-7058.

Thanks for asking, and for saying you'll keep an eye on the spam. ASF has been a big target for it lately and it is not a light task.
Comments are now enabled for logged in confluence-users.
I too get daily notifications for all spaces ;)

> Part of the workflow used in maintaining the Solr Ref Guide since it was created has been that page editing is restricted to committers, but comments are permitted by anyone in the confluence-users group -- but comments are not included in the exported guide. This gives users the ability to ask questions and/or post suggested improvements about documentation directly on the pages...

> In an email from pmcs@apache on Oct 1 ("Subject: Confluence Wiki SPAM and new restrictions in place.") Gavin mentioned locking down confluence and removing edit/create permissions for the confluence-users, but I (and steve rowe, also on the lucene PMC and also actively involved in the SOLR space) evidently overlooked the fact that these changes included comments -- we thought it was about creating & editing pages, something that has always been locked down in the SOLR space -- and didn't realize at the time that this issue affected us.
> We would like to turn back on the ability for confluence-users to be able to post comments in the SOLR space, and deal with any comment spam manually in the community. (We already have notifications configured so that all comments on this space are sent to our commits list so they can be monitored for abuse.)
> I'm already a member of the conflucene-admins group, so this can be a self-serving change, but i wanted to open this issue first and wait a few days in case there were any strenuous objections from INFRA.
