[QUESTION] Does Data Index still support Infinispan?
Hey there, I could see some examples in the `incubator-kie-kogito-examples`
that uses `infinispan` for `data-index` [1] and references old `
quay.io/kiegroup` images (
quay.io/kiegroup/kogito-data-index-infinispan:${KOGITO_VERSION) . I
searched in the Docker hub registry and couldn't find the respective image
[2]. Do we still support `infinispan` for `data-index`? Additionally,
should we maintain both Infinispan and Postgresql examples [3]?

Hi Luiz,
I would say that we either include the missing image (which I guess can be
generated from the data index code still existing and working here
<https://github.com/apache/incubator-kie-kogito-apps/tree/main/data-index/data-index-service/data-index-service-infinispan>)
or make the example work using embedded data index (not using the non
existing image). I prefer the first one (it looks to me that this was
missing when moving the images to tools repo), but the second will work
too.

Re: [QUESTION] Does Data Index still support Infinispan?
Posted by Tiago Bento <ti...@apache.org>.
Luiz,
If this image is not present on kie-tools@main, it doesn’t exist anymore,
as all container images are currently hosted on kie-tools.
An example module pointing to an obsolete artifact should be viewed as tech
debt, IMHO, and therefore is susceptible to being updated, either by being
entirely removed, or adapted to use up-to-date dependencies.
Similarly, an example module hosted on kogito-examples, pointing to any 1st
party module coming from kie-tools, represents a circular dependency, and
therefore needs to be updated in the same way.
Thanks for looking into this and sharing your question here in the
development mailing list.
Cheers,
Tiago Bento

Hi Francisco,
Thanks for the reply. Since we still support it and the image isn't
available on Apache's Docker Hub, I'm unsure whether this is a deliberate
decision not to publish it or if there's a bug somewhere. Can someone
confirm it?

Hi Alex,
I think we are even, because in a +1 to remove something, I'm expecting to
see what we are going to remove exactly (without context, we can even
conclude you are planning to remove postgresql examples)
My proposal is to fix what is needed the example (possibly will be enough
to remove the reference to the image in the docker compose file, so in a
sense we agree in the need to remove it ;))
Infinispan for data index is still supported and unless there is a separate
proposal discussing the benefits/cons of removing it, we should not remove
it (or people might think we are following a NFRMWF paradigm: "never fix,
but remove or move when failing")
