I've a first patch of this feature to a remote branch: custom_schemes (https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf?p=cordova-ios.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/custom_schemes)

I'm now working on more robust testing, but seems to still support *, custom schemes, and custom whitelist in quick smoke tests.
