[Bug 3292] Improper use of and false positives regarding RCVD_IN_SORBS

http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3292

------- Additional Comments From gblack@smartertek.net  2004-04-22 01:37 -------
Naturally the first hop should be checked though if it's the ONLY hop. I can see
possible additional problems if the spam assassin user sits behind a mail
gateway so as to allow something like:

Sender->Reciever mail gateway->Reciever Mail server->Reciever

Spam assassin probably needs some sort of configuration option to allow a "hop
depth" or some such to be set so the server can say "the last two hops are me,
everything else is the outside world", so that in the above situation Spam
assassin would drop the last two, see one left, which is then the ONLY hop, and
check it anyway, whereas it would ignore checking the sender hop if there were 4
hops instead of 3 involved. By the same token you'd probably want it to skip the
test completely if there were equal to or less than the "hop depth" number of
hops (two or less in this case) to allow for internal mail and the such (two
users belonging to the same mail server sending mail to each other).
