overwritting gadgets.js

Hey guys, I have a quick question for the community. I am implementing
shindig and want to make sure as updates come out I don't have to
rewrite anything (unless there is a major change), so for things like
the gadets.js file, I have been overriding methods in that file.
However, I am getting to the point where I need to totally rewrite some
things. Specifically I need to give each gadget a UUID so I am replacing
the incrementor with the UUID from our database. However the
gadgetChomeID array retrieves chomeIDs based on the index of the array,
which would have matched the incrementor. So anyhow I need to totally
change the way the gadgetChrome array works, which gets me to my
question.

Is it the intention that the gadget.js file should be used only as a
sample and totally rewritten? Or is this going to be updated and bug
fixed where I would want to overwrite methods in it?

Hi,

I have updated the wiki page for the description of how to display a gadget in your own page.
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/SHINDIG/Display+a+gadget+in+a+web+page

The only thing you need is to provide an iframe tag in your html with the right url to the gadget. JavaScript can be added for things like navigate from one view to another or dynamic height.

Yes. There is no need to use javascript to create the gadgets at all.
