Hi!

The campaign has just been funded:
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-month-of-apache-tapestry-5 :D

Thanks everybody for your comments and feedback! They really improved my
campaign and helped me getting it funded the right way. :)

Cheers!

It is now on the web page as well, and infra pages link to it.

We had a fun discussion about who has read/write access to those pages, but
that solved.

Indeed this is a good option. Of course, Apache does not pay for
developers and doesn't accept targeted donations, so the way it can work
for us is (exactly like the Apache Tapestry case) that an individual or
a group asks for donations, outside the project, for a dedicated
development task.

Code will then have to pass the usual review and QA steps before it is
accepted and released, so developers should mention that they cannot
guarantee that the project will accept the code.

And a standard disclaimer, from the dev@community thread, is:
   ---
Disclaimer: This campaign is done by me, FOO, as an independent
individual, not by the Apache Software Foundation nor the Apache
OpenOffice project. I'm not representing the Foundation in any way in
this campaign nor does Apache endorse it. The Foundation has a policy of
not paying for development work. All its members are volunteers. Any
code I'll write or change will pass the usual OpenOffice team approval
process.

Raphael had announced a similar initiative on this list, but I don't
know if the funding target has already been reached.

   Andrea.

Information to those that do not follow the community list.

It seems crowdfunding is slowly becomming more accepted and funding is
possible for opensource projects.

Something to think about, if we want a bigger task done.

Hi again.

Sorry, my bad, I should have checked before writing (I guess I am just so
used to hit the wall), Not only members but also committers have default rw
to the site.

I will add the link to /dev and just to avoid any confusion about the
document skeleton, it is at the moment merely an idea, which hopefully soon
turns into a proposal.

ah ok...I guess we should just grant all ASF members write access to
the community website, as long as they let us know here what they're
about we're fine.

Can you confirm that you do not have write access to
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/comdev/site/ ? If you don't we need to
fix that IMO.

My little hint did not work :-) I would like to help with the community
work, but when I search/browse through the site for "getting involved" it
all about becomming a committer. What did I miss ?

thx for adding it, it look nice, I will get the /dev link done. One of
infra-root (humbedooh) has made a new skeleton for documentation, and we
are right now moving documents.

have a nice day

ok, ok ;-)

I have added it at
http://community.apache.org/committers/funding-disclaimer.html , can
you add the /dev link?

I am actually not quite sure how "community" works, its defined as a
project, but does not seem to have its own svn group or members.

Link from /dev/#committers is a good idea as well.

good idea, do you want to add it to the http://community.apache.org/
website under "for committers/PMCs"?

Link from /dev/#committers is a good idea as well.

Since it seems more committers start to use this way (which I find ok),
maybe we should remove the project names and put it on a url with a link
from http://www.apache.org/dev/#committers

Here's a copy of that BTW, can be useful to have it in our archives.

Congrats!

I like how you've phrased the disclaimers, makes things quite clear.

Too bad nobody signed up for the "You in my e-mail signature" perk ;-)

As Jan says, a blog post about the experiment and results would be cool.
