[DISCUSSION] Moving to JDK 7 and JDK 8
Hi folks,
Now is the right time to discuss the move to JDK 7 and JDK 8. The
recent Hadoop release does not support JDK 6 anymore. As far as I
know, many companies using Hadoop were already migrated or are
migrating to JDK 7 or 8. We also need to think about stopping JDK 6
support.
How do you think about this?
Best regards,
Hyunsik

I made a jira issue.

+1 for moving to jdk 7 and 8.
Many people still use jre 6 but it will increase the number of "wont fix"
issues. Because some of our libraries decided not to support jre6.
Also if the number of supported jre is increased, our efforts on test will
be increased.
