[jira] Created: (DIRSERVER-1234) cn=schema is not returned if no ManageDsaIT control is present in the request.

cn=schema is not returned if no ManageDsaIT control is present in the request.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: DIRSERVER-1234
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DIRSERVER-1234
             Project: Directory ApacheDS
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: core
    Affects Versions: 1.5.4
            Reporter: Stefan Seelmann
            Assignee: Stefan Seelmann
             Fix For: 1.5.4

When requesting the schema cn=schema and no ManageDsaIT control is present in the request, the server does not return the schema entry.

The reason is that the SearchHandler adds an OR'd filter (objectClass=referral) to the user's filter, however in the SchemaInterceptor this enhanced filter (|(objectClass=subschema)(objectClass=referral)) isn't handled.

--------------------------------------------

What would be the best solution for this? I have two ideas:

1st:
Modify the SearchHandler, that it doesn't add (objectClass=referral) when searching cn=schema

2nd:
Modify the SchemaInterceptor to handle (|(objectClass=subschema)(objectClass=referral))

I already have a patch with the 1st solution, it works fine. However I would ask what would be the better way or if there another solution.
