MySQL maximium field size is *not* limited to 1meg
I dont know where the rumor started that has us all accept that MySQL has a
maximum field size of 1meg
in fact a LONGTEXT text field, or LONGBLOB Binary object field can store
4Gb. (more than enough for James' uses)
If people are having trouble using this, they should look to their config
and in particular the max_allowed_packet option which defaults at 64k per
connection, and is the input buffer.

Hello:
What do you want Postgresql Jdbc driver?
After you install Postgresql at: www.postgresql.org
there is an command can generate Postgresql JDBC driver.
How to generate Postgresql JDBC driver.
The driver's source is located in the src/interfaces/jdbc directory of the source tree. To compile simply change directory to that directory, and type:
% make
Upon completion, you will find the archive postgresql.jar in the current directory. This is the JDBC driver.

(XML + PostgreSQL + jdbc) driver

I'm looking for jdbc-xml driver for PostgreSQL linux.
I did try to use the JDBCXML from wrox, but I didn't get to setup the linux.
I did only use it for windows.
I'm looking for Lunix + jdbc + XML Postgresql.

Yes, 2.0.4; I got it from www.mysql.com (somewhere in
http://www.mysql.com/downloads/index.html).
And I wish that the James POP implementation would be faster in the next
release. Once I tried to send a 2.5MB attachment; it took about 6
minutes (plus) to download (the server is a PIII/600/128MB). Something
weird happened also; the fetch was unsuccessful for the first time, and
for the second time. Then I changed the POP time-out in James' config
file (to make it longer, of course). After that, the fetch was all
right. It shouldn't be like that, I guess; if you are downloading
something, that means that there's somekind of activity is happening.
That would mean that the time-out time shouldn't have yet begun ticking.
But I have to check it again today; let's see what would happen if the
attachments were larger than 2.5MB.
I wish that the James' admin tool were more powerful; like being able to
delete, forward, bounce back to sender, for all the messages in the
mailboxes. Currently, I have some mailboxes that couldn't be retrieved
by their owners (it's a net related; uncontrollable by me). If I could
forward those messages to other addresses, that would be great.

I have just installed JDBC driver 2.0.4 for MySQL; sending a 2.5MB
attachment is no problem.

I think the problem is not on MySQL, but the JDBC driver used. I use the
MM driver, I have set the max_allowed_packet in /etc/mysql/my.cnf to be
2MB, and I still couldn't have attachments larger than 500KB.

Sorry, isn't really a rumor... just outdated information. When I first
wrote the database repository a year or more ago, postgres didn't support
large binary objects and mysql was capped. Thanks for correcting us.
