+1. That's cleaner than casting.

[PATCH] mod_speling 64-bit issues (was Re: Build of apache_19971016130014)
Posted by Dean Gaudet <dg...@arctic.org>.
Yeah these (long) casts are how it's worked around elsewhere, but this is
kind of ugly for mod_speling. Try this patch instead.

Recent versions of HPUX 10.x don't want SELECT_NEEDS_CAST unless you have
some dawg-awful compat. define set. Early HPUX 10.x things do. I
don't know exactly where and I am lazy, so I decreed that HPUX 10.x
doesn't need cast and before does. If I can find out where the cutoff
is, something can be done...
Anyone have 10.10? 10.01 needs, 10.20 doesn't.

Why is -DUSEBCOPY added to the compile line? Shouldn't it be defined in
conf.h?

modules/proxy/proxy_util.c:proxy_is_ipaddr() ... it needs strtoul().
Looks like someone will have to fish strtoul() code from BSD and stuff it
into libap.

Well, for some reason we're explicitly not defining SELECT_NEEDS_CAST for
HPUX 10, and only HPUX 10.

NT sure is a goddamn noisy bugger. None of these are bugs at the moment,
so I'd say ignore them. And FWIW, I don't like adding casts just to
ignore warnings... the 64-bit issue is somewhat different. But this
stuff is mostly poor coding (mixing int and unsigned).
