Does this error eman it is an error at your client machine side or the error at the server side?

hello all,

I did some searchign for the cause of this problem, but couldn't find
anything useful yet.
I am runnign a load test on an image file and I am using 1000 threads each
will run 60 times per minute.
I need to do it for an hour.
but, I am trying to do it for 10 minutes at first and I see some errors like
the following.
Does it mean that the machine I am running jmeter encountered some problems?
or does it mean that the server couldn't handle that many requests?

"Non HTTP response code: java.net.NoRouteToHostException,Non HTTP response
message: Cannot assign requested address,"

thanks a lot,
Nathasha

Thanks Deepak Goel.
I am not sure whetehr this is a DNS problem becasue when I reduce the number
of threads, it is running fine.
But, if it is actually a DNS problem, how can we resolve it?

thanks,
Nathasha

Looks like a DNS problem. The hostname is unable to resolve into an IP Address

Hi
I wouldnt think the file size has anything to do with your problem , its
probably something to do with the OS not able to create the sockets. You'd
probably need to sit with some OS guy who can diagnose.

Thank you Deepak and Sebb.
Yes. I tried to reduce the number of thredas and increased the ramp up
period and it is running good now.
I might come back with mre questions.
But, good for now.

ps:I am using an RHEL box and I have ran upto 1500 threads in this machine
for an hour in some cases.
But, those were very smaller files compared to this image file.
So, I am guessing that the size of the returned file also is a factor here
and that is the reason I can't use these many threads in this case.Is that
correct?

thanks again.

That error is almost certainly coming from the JMeter host. 1000
threads is quite a lot; try running fewer threads initially.

Probably a Jmeter client problem. Which OS? Dos you get the same error with
fewer threads (start from 100 increment in steps of 100) ? What if you give
a much larger ramp up period?
