Summary: Java Request Defaults are unusable
Product: JMeter
Version: 2.1.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows XP
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Main
AssignedTo: jmeter-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: rbolsius1@yahoo.com
The Java Request Defaults config element cannot be used to set default parameter
values because the control panel for the Java Request will not allow the user to
permanently delete any parameters. The delete button seems to delete the
parameter. However, when the test plan is executed or when the user clicks back
on the Java Request sampler, the sample parameter reappears. Since the Java
Request control panel always recreates deleted parameters, the Java Request
Defaults are useless.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a test plan with a Thread Group.
2. Add to the Thread Group a Java Request Defaults configuration element for
the SleepTest class and set the Sleep_Time parameter to 5000.
3. Add to the Thread Group a Java Request sampler for the SleepTest class and
delete the SleepTime parameter.
4. Click on the Java Request Defaults.
5. Click on the Java Request sampler. The SleepTime parameter has been restored
to the default value of 1000.
6. Delete the value of the SleepTime parameter leaving the parameter in place.
7. Click away and then back on the Java Request sampler. The SleepTime
parameter has been restored to the default value of 1000.
The SleepTime value of 5000 in the Java Request Defaults can never be used.
