[PROPOSAL] camel-extra moves forward

Hi All,

I reactivate camel-extra project.
Migration to GitHub is finished.

But I would like your point of view / help about several things :

- Drop camel-extra version 2.14
- Release ASAP camel-extra version 2.15.x
- Develop now for 2.16 including camel-raspberrypi component.
- looking for someone who has got credential to push artifact to maven central for 2.15.x release
- Any idea about camel-extra website tool : jekyllrb ??

thx for your help,

Greg I/O

Hello Christoph!

Once again, I encourage you (and all other Apache-Extra developers) to
subscribe to the Apache community development mailing list [1] and
follow/discuss your opinions in the "Apache Extras, Google Code and
Sourceforge" thread [3].

Unfortunately (my personal view), it looks like they prefer to move the
Apache-Extra projects to Sourceforge.

Posted by Christoph Emmersberger <ce...@gmail.com>.
Hi Christian

As August is approaching, and Greg has already put some effort into
migrating the project to GitHub, I'd like to reach out once again.

Did you hear any official statement on how to proceed after August? I also
heard some rumors that Google might be creating another hosting
opportunity, soon.

Getting some clarity on how to proceed would help to bundle our efforts to
keep the project maintainable.

Best,

Christoph

How should somebody submit a patch at present? By email, attach to
Jira, or pull request?

If the Github repository is NOT the official repo and is not going to
be, maybe

a) somebody could change the link at the top of the Github project page
to point at this thread

b) somebody could change the comment at the top of the Github page to
say the repo is just a mirror or test?

Seeing the names of Camel committers in the Github page for camel-extra
gives the impression it is the official repository and given that Camel
itself accepts pull requests through Github this may give the wrong
impression.

Ok, ... so I'll run the release now off the old Google Code repositories.

Can anybody cross check if I have the appropriate rights on the GitHub
repository to commit tags? I've given it quite a few shots and it still
won't let me prepare the release from there. Just wanted to make sure we
are in a position to migrate.

Best,

Christoph

For now, commit only to Google Code.

Re: [PROPOSAL] camel-extra moves forward

Posted by Christoph Emmersberger <ce...@gmail.com>.
All

even if I know that google code will be writable until August, I'd prefer
having only one place to go.

In the past, I've reached out to ASF asking for a migration to Github. They
mentioned the same SourceForge cooperations, but it turned out that they
are only used for downloading binary artifacts within the OpenOffice space.
To be hones, I'd personally prefer Github over SourceForge but will be
happy with whatever decision the board advises us.

Best,

Christoph

Oh, the static stuff... Thanks for pointing this, Christian. I guess I have
to give some love to camel-extra releases again then :) .

Cheers.

Hi Greg,

camel-raspberrypi can be included in ASF Camel. It has Apache friendly
license. BTW I'm waiting for your responses to my pull request comments ;) .

Cheers.

-1 at this time.

Google Code is writable until 24th August 2015. There is no need to rush
with this decision [1].
As mentioned before by others, there is an ongoing discussion at Apache
ComDev [2] where to move with the Apache Extras project. Please follow/join
this discussion. Camel Extras is a part of Apache Extras.
Don't get me wrong, I like GitHub, but I don't think it's our decision
where to move with Camel Extras.
