I am also seeing this while doing a 'mvn install' and it's breaking things for me. The only thing my pom does is use maven-assembly-plugin to create a custom distribution of my project modules.
However, when maven-assembly-plugin runs to actually assemble things, it grabs the unique timestamped file, breaking the classpath in my MANIFEST.
Here's a snippet of the output from 'mvn -X install'. Notice that I have 2 snapshot dependencies. The first resolves just fine. The second one is the goofy one.
