[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-16431) Can't build Solr with OpenJDK 19

Kevin Risden commented on SOLR-16431:
-------------------------------------

After SOLR-16432 upgraded Gradle to 7.5.1, I checked JDK 19 and seems like need Gradle 7.6 or later? See https://github.com/gradle/gradle/issues/20372

> Build fails with JDK 19 on branch_9x.  All 3 of these environments fail:
>
> Ubuntu Server 22.04, with OpenJDK 19:
> {code:java}
> JAVA_HOME="/storage0/jdk-19" ./gradlew clean assemble{code}
>
> Windows 10 in command prompt, OpenJDK 19, Strawberry Perl:
> {code:java}
> SET JAVA_HOME="C:\jdk-19"
> gradlew clean assemble
> {code}
>
> Windows 10 in Git Bash, OpenJDK 19, perl included with Git Bash:
> {code:java}
> JAVA_HOME="/c/jdk-19" ./gradlew clean assemble{code}
>
> All three environments work with JDK 17 and JDK 11 when setting JAVA_HOME to override the default JDK version on the PATH.  On Windows the version 11 and 17 JVMs are Oracle, on Ubuntu it is all OpenJDK.
> On Ubuntu this is the build output.  Similar in both Windows environments:
> {code:java}
> elyograg@smeagol:~/git/solr$ JAVA_HOME="/storage0/jdk-19" ./gradlew clean assemble
> Starting a Gradle Daemon (subsequent builds will be faster)
> FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.
> * What went wrong:

> * Try:
> Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output. Run with --scan to get full insights.

> BUILD FAILED in 20s
> 2 actionable tasks: 2 executed
> {code}
>
> Edit:  Looks like gradle doesn't yet support Java 19.
